What is the most most powerful styling tool you have at your disposal? It’s COLOR! Color has such a dramatic impact not only on you, but also everyone you meet. Did you know color is actually energy? Think of all the sayings where we use color to describe how we are feeling:
I’m really feeling BLUE today.
She’s tickled PINK.
I’m GREEN with envy.
Color is truly magical. It can alter your image in so many ways. Many times we look back on pictures and think, “Gosh, I look terrible,” or “Why do I look so tired?” More than likely, you are wearing the wrong color. A truly flattering color will not only lift your mood, but help you to appear younger, fresher and more confident. When you wear the right color near your face, the light reflects it upward. The result is either a flattering tone or dark shadow. I don’t know about you, but I’m going for a lighter effect rather than adding more dark shadows. One of the benefits of knowing your colors is shopping becomes easier. You can omit all of the colors in a store that you have determined are not flattering for you.
How do we determine what colors look best? You need to take note of 3 dominant features:
Is your hair dark, light or medium? Is your skin tone warm or cool? What color are your eyes and what is their intensity? Once you determine the answers you can then narrow down your results into 6 categories of colors. They are LIGHT DEEP SOFT COOL WARM or CLEAR. Once you determine your category, you will then have a palette of colors that are perfect for you. You can wear any color in the rainbow as long as it is in the correct hue.
